United Kingdom adds an additional public holiday for 2022

The UK government introduced one additional paid public holiday that will be celebrated on Friday, 3 June 2022, to honor the Queen’s 70th anniversary as a monarch.

The new holiday, which will only be celebrated in 2022, aims to bring the country together for a series of planned events celebrating the Queen’s anniversary through an extended weekend. The new public holiday applies to both public and private sector employees in the UK. For this special occasion, the spring bank national holiday that is usually celebrated each year on the last Monday of May will be moved to Thursday, 2 June 2022.
