Lockton, the world’s largest privately held insurance brokerage, is pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Fischer, CPCU, ARM, ARe, as Nuclear Segment Leader for the firm’s U.S. Energy Practice. By appointing Fischer, Lockton reinforces its dedication to enhancing segment-specific solutions for energy clients and strengthening its team with top-tier expertise.

Fischer brings more than 20 years of energy-sector experience across nuclear insurance, risk management, executive leadership, and military service. In his role, he will help advance Lockton’s nuclear strategy by further developing specialized advisory capabilities and delivering tailored risk and insurance solutions for clients across the full nuclear lifecycle. He will also serve as a Client Executive across the power and renewable energy sectors.

“Tim’s depth of experience in the nuclear sector—from his distinguished service in the U.S. Navy to his executive leadership within the industry—will be an enormous asset to our clients,” said Rob Hausler, U.S. Energy Practice Leader. “As nuclear power gains renewed attention as a reliable, clean energy solution to support long‑term electricity demand, Tim’s leadership will help our clients navigate both risk and opportunity across the value chain. I’m thrilled to have him join the team.”

Before joining Lockton, Fischer served as Vice President and Chief Risk Officer for BWX Technologies (BWXT), a leading manufacturer and supplier of nuclear components and fuel to the U.S. Navy and commercial nuclear industry. In this role, he led BWXT’s enterprise risk management initiatives, optimized its risk profile, and managed all aspects of the complex insurance programs supporting the company’s global business.

Prior to BWXT, Fischer spent six years with Marsh’s Power & Utility Practice, where he supported the nuclear insurance needs of operating reactors and nuclear fuel-cycle facilities and helped develop innovative insurance solutions for renewable energy and nuclear construction projects. He began his career as a submarine officer in the U.S. Navy, where he directed safety, navigation, and operational readiness aboard the USS Louisville (SSN 724).

Fischer holds a bachelor’s degree in systems engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy, a master’s degree in engineering management from Old Dominion University, and an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He has earned several insurance designations and has been recognized by Risk & Insurance magazine with Power Broker and Risk All-Star awards.

“I’m excited to join Lockton to further strengthen the specialization within our Energy Practice by advancing our nuclear capabilities,” said Fischer. “Lockton has an outstanding reputation for putting clients first, and I look forward to working with this team to deliver thoughtful, innovative solutions for our clients.”
