Lockton, the world’s largest privately held insurance brokerage, is pleased to announce the appointment of industry veteran Mike Gaudet to the newly created position of Strategic Business Development Leader for the firm’s U.S. Energy Practice. Gaudet’s appointment reflects Lockton’s dedication to expanding capabilities to meet the industry-specific needs of energy clients and the firm’s continued investment in top-tier talent.
With nearly three decades of experience in risk management and insurance strategy, Gaudet’s leadership and technical acumen will play a central role in advancing Lockton’s strategic initiatives and deepening client relationships. Among other energy risk topics, his thought leadership expertise includes extensive knowledge about the increasing power demands associated with artificial intelligence.
“Mike is a perfect cultural fit for Lockton,” said Rob Hausler, U.S. Energy Practice Leader. “In addition to being a great person to work with, his deep understanding of evolving trends in the power and renewables sector make him an invaluable asset to our team. And his ability to innovate in a rapidly evolving energy risk and insurance landscape will be of tremendous benefit to clients.”
Gaudet joins Lockton after more than 22 years at Marsh, where he most recently served as Managing Director, U.S. Energy & Power Industry Growth Leader, responsible for driving risk strategies for energy, power, and utility clients. Prior to Marsh, he held underwriting and account management roles at Chubb and RSA.
Gaudet holds certifications as a Cyber Professional Liability Practitioner (CPLP) and a Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU). He earned an MBA in Finance & Strategy from the University of Pittsburgh Katz Graduate School of Business, an MA from Duquesne University, and a BA from Bucknell University. Gaudet has been recognized as an Energy & Utilities Power Broker by Risk & Insurance magazine three times (2013, 2015, and 2019).
In his new role, Gaudet will focus on enhancing Lockton’s service delivery across key sectors, supporting strategic growth initiatives and client engagements, and collaborating across Lockton’s national and global platforms.
“I’m excited to join Lockton and contribute to a culture that champions independence, innovation, and client success,” said Gaudet. “I am eager to collaborate with the exceptionally talented Energy team to deliver impactful results and help our clients navigate the future with confidence.”
Gaudet is based in Philadelphia.
