Lockton was recently recognized by Chambers & Partners (Chambers) as one of the leading litigation insurance brokers in the US in the 2024 edition of the Chambers Litigation Support Guide. In addition to Lockton receiving the prestigious Band 1 ranking, Lockton’s litigation insurance practice leader, Michael Perich, was one of only two practitioners in the nation specifically recognized as a Band 1 broker.
Lockton brokers litigation insurance policies to help its corporate and law firm clients alleviate the financial burdens and uncertainty associated with active litigation. By wrapping the contingent liability or asset related to pending commercial litigation with an insurance policy, an insured secures more certainty regarding the potential financial impact of that litigation.
To further support this growing area of specialty insurance, Lockton recently announced the appointments of Connor Murphy and Matt Reason, each as Senior Vice President focusing on new business development in the litigation insurance industry. Murphy joins Lockton from Burford Capital, a leading litigation finance firm, where he was a Director responsible for originating new business with US law firms and companies. Reason joins Lockton after over eight years at LexShares, an online marketplace for investing in litigation, where he served as Chief Revenue Officer responsible for the firm’s client engagement and business development strategies.
Perich said of the additions of Murphy and Reason, “We are at a critical juncture in the development of the litigation insurance industry, and I can think of no better professionals to help increase client and advisor awareness than Connor and Matt given their depth and breadth of experience. We are truly delighted to add them to our team at a point where there is such incredible momentum for this suite of products.”
Eric Ziff, Partner & Co-Practice Leader of Lockton’s Transaction Liability Group, stated, “As noted by Chambers, we have the preeminent litigation insurance team in the space. But at Lockton, we always strive to deliver more to our clients – Matt and Connor allow us to do just that.”
