On 30 July 2019, managers and industry federations renewed Italy’s National Collective Bargaining Agreement for executives/managers in the industrial sector (CCNL).
The CCNL entered into force on 10 December 2014, and expired on 31 December 2018. The new CCNL agreement is dated 1 January 2019, and will expire on 31 December 2023. Most new provisions will enter into force at staggered dates as stated in the agreement.
Key details
The new CCNL applies only to executives/managers.
On 1 January 2020, life coverage for death and permanent disability will increase as follows:
From EUR 129,114.22 to EUR 200,000 for executives/managers without dependents.
From EUR 180,759.91 to EUR 300,000 for executives/managers with one or more dependent children and/or spouse.
In addition, the executive/manager’s yearly contribution to the cost of their dependent(s) will increase from EUR 139.44 to EUR 200. The company withholds the contribution from the executive/manager’s remuneration.
In addition, the gross annual minimum wage for executives/managers will increase from EUR 66,000 to:
EUR 69,000 in 2020
EUR 72,000 in 2022
EUR 75,000 in 2023
The change doesn’t apply to executives and managers who are paid more than the minimum wage.
Next steps
Employers should budget for a life insurance premium cost increase for executive/manager policies.
