Chile to regulate employment contracts for specific tasks or services

Effective 1 January 2019, new provisions have been introduced to regulate employment contracts for specific, non-permanent work or services. Employees under this type of employment contract will have the following rights:

  • 15 days of paid annual leave when the work or service has been rendered under two or more contracts that lasted for a minimum of one year.

  • A severance payment is established for the duration of the work or service so long as the contract has been in effect for a minimum of one month and if the termination of the contract is due to the conclusion of the task or service that originated the contract.
