Norway, Oslo – Wednesday 1 July: Lockton, the world’s largest privately held independent insurance brokerage, today announces the appointment of Frode Stakston as Chief Operating Officer (COO) across its Norway, Sweden and Finland operations, further strengthening its leadership team while supporting continued growth across the Nordic region.
Stakston brings decades of senior leadership experience spanning insurance broking, risk management and digital transformation in the Nordic insurance market. Prior to joining Lockton, he spent nine years at Aon and held senior positions at Söderberg & Partners and Gabler.
“Frode’s appointment marks an important strategic step as we continue to build our expertise and capabilities across key risk markets,” said Øyvind Larsen, CEO of Lockton Norway AS. “He brings significant experience in scaling businesses, improving operational efficiency and aligning strategy alongside a strong track record of transformation and growth in complex, technology-driven organisations.”
Stakston is widely recognised for his strategic approach and has established himself as a respected leader in the insurance and risk management sector in the Nordics. In his new role, he will oversee operations, focusing on capability-building and delivering long-term value for clients.
“Stepping into this new role as Chief Operating Officer is a real opportunity to support Lockton’s journey in the Nordics,” said Frode Stakston. “My focus will be on empowering our teams and optimising operations to build strong foundations for sustainable, tangible growth. Lockton’s independence and deep-rooted client focus have never been more important, especially in a market increasingly shaped by short-term performance rather than long-term success.”
He added: “The Nordic insurance market is evolving quickly, and clients need a partner who can move forward with them. I am excited to work closely with our associates, clients and industry partners to continue building momentum across the Nordic region. Together, we will build what's next.”
Johan Lindvall, CEO, Lockton Sweden, said: “Stakston’s appointment as COO reinforces our continued investment in delivering a consistent, high-quality service and long-term value for our clients, while supporting Lockton’s broader ambitions in the region. He will play an important role in shaping the next stage of our expansion and operational capabilities, ensuring we stay closely aligned with the needs of local markets.”
Lockton has recently strengthened its Nordic operations by expanding its capabilities through a series of senior appointments, including Stein Halstensen (Biological Risk Specialist) (opens a new window), Dag Sandberg (Client Executive) (opens a new window) and Bård Poulsson (International Marine Lead) (opens a new window) over the last 12 months.
