As of January 2025, the Social Security System (SSS) contribution rate increased to 15%, up from 14% in 2024. This marks the completion of the gradual adjustments outlined in Republic Act (RA) No. 11199, which introduced a 1% increase every two years starting in 2019 when the rate was 12%.
Additionally, the SSS has adjusted the Monthly Salary Credit (MSC) thresholds, raising the minimum MSC to ₱5,000 and the maximum to ₱35,000. These changes are projected to generate an additional ₱51.5 billion in collections for 2025, with 35% (approximately ₱18.3 billion) allocated to the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF), a supplementary savings program for private-sector workers and individual members.
The SSS emphasized that these adjustments are intended to strengthen the system and enhance benefits, providing long-term financial security for its members.
