Lockton New Zealand celebrates second anniversary milestone amidst rapid growth

Lockton New Zealand is immensely proud to commemorate its second anniversary amidst a phase of remarkable expansion. Boasting the industry-leading 100 per cent client retention rate within New Zealand, Lockton stands as a global professional services firm with a global workforce exceeding 10,750 professionals. The dedication is singularly aimed at delivering premier expertise in risk management, insurance and employee benefits services to a clientele exceeding 65,000 across the globe.

Embarking on its journey in September 2021 during a nationwide lockdown, Lockton New Zealand commenced operations with a modest team of 10 employees stationed in Auckland. A mere 24 months later, the Lockton New Zealand team has undergone rapid organic growth, evolving into a cohort of 27 associates operating from three strategic locations: Auckland, Christchurch and Hamilton.

The client portfolio has shown significant expansion, particularly among Lockton’s specialisms including primary industries, property management, investment firms, power and energy sectors, hotels and hospitality, infrastructure, fuel supply and manufacturing. From top NZX50 companies to mid-sized businesses, Lockton’s client base is marked by diversity spanning all principal regions of New Zealand and selected Pacific territories, including the Cook Islands, Samoa and the Solomon Islands.

Key milestones attained by Lockton New Zealand in the preceding year encompass:

  • A significant augmentation of the team, almost doubling the initial headcount.

  • The successful establishment of enduring, strategic risk transfer solutions, catering to clients such as the Pacific Catastrophic Risk Insurance Company (PCIRC). The World Bank sponsored captive insurance company provides natural disaster solutions to the Pacific Islands.

  • Forging strategic partnership agreements with several aligned businesses across New Zealand and the Pacific region including HealthNow, a healthcare company making it easier for New Zealand employees to access healthcare.

  • Supporting the 'Trees that Count' initiative managed by environmental charity Project Crimson across Aotearoa New Zealand. As part of this initiative, Lockton donates native trees in the organisation's name for every new client, resulting in a total donation of over 700 trees to date.

"As we celebrate our second anniversary, it is with a profound sense of purpose that we reflect on our journey thus far”, said Peter Lowe, CEO at Lockton New Zealand. “At Lockton, we are unwavering in our commitment to not only achieve growth but to revolutionise the market. Our dedication is firmly rooted in three foundational principles that guide our every endeavour - our clients, our people and the greater community. This is the essence of Lockton New Zealand.”

Niall Martin, Head of People Solutions at Lockton New Zealand, commented: “We empower and encourage our colleagues to make a difference in their communities. Last financial year, globally, our community impact totalled more than USD $17 million, benefiting 250+ organisations across the globe. More locally here in New Zealand, we have partnered with Cystic Fibrosis New Zealand on multiple fronts, from ongoing fundraising to providing pro-bono insurance broking and advice.”
