If you are an airline who operates in the UK or a tour operator who sells package holidays, you must provide security to your regulators in the event of your insolvency. The security must cover all of your customers prepayments, repatriation and claim costs. A travel bond is a recognised form of security and can be provided by a surety issued in favour of the relevant regulator. Examples of Travel bonds include, but not limited to, ABTA (and ABTOT) bonds, ATOL (Air Travel Organisers License) and CAR (Commission for Aviation Regulation).
