London, 2 October 2026: Lockton, the world's largest independent insurance broker, has raised more than £275,000 for Alzheimer’s Society, the UK’s leading dementia charity, as part of a major fundraising event involving more than 700 colleagues walking in 15 locations.
‘Lockton Steps Up’ involved a series of challenging fundraising walks of up to 16 miles, all of which took place on Friday 18 September. UK events were held in multiple locations including Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Fife, the Thames Valley and Yorkshire, with all funds raised going to Alzheimer's Society. The walks formed part of Lockton’s celebrations of 20 years in Europe, commemorating the company’s establishment in the London market in 2006 and the foundation it created for growth through the global reach of Lloyd’s and the UK company insurance market.
As part of a Europe-wide effort, similar walks took place throughout Lockton’s European offices on the same day, raising funds for local charities. From Bergen to Copenhagen, and Valletta to Istanbul and Zurich, Lockton colleagues stepped up to support causes important to their communities, raising a total of £20,000.
EJ Hentenaar, CEO at Lockton Europe, said: “The response to Lockton Steps Up has been truly inspiring. Colleagues and our trusted insurer partners came together with remarkable generosity, energy and commitment to support an important cause. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who played a part, whether by walking, sponsoring, donating or cheering participants on along the way. The collective effort demonstrated not only the strength of our relationships, but also our shared commitment to making a meaningful difference in the communities we serve.
“Dementia affects millions of people, either directly or through someone they love, which is why support for Alzheimer’s Society resonates so strongly with us. We’re incredibly proud that Lockton Steps Up has raised this fantastic amount for our charity of the year in the UK. The desire to make a difference in our communities is part of Lockton’s DNA.”
Congratulating the Lockton team's fundraising effort, Michelle Dyson CB, CEO at Alzheimer's Society, said: "Lockton's colleagues have shown the power of collective action against dementia. Raising £275,000 is a remarkable achievement that will have real and lasting impact for people affected by dementia.
"As the UK's biggest killer, dementia is one of the greatest challenges of our time. Lockton’s outstanding support will help fund vital services, drive forward groundbreaking research and strengthen our fight for better diagnosis, treatment and support for everyone affected.
"We are immensely proud of our partnership with the Lockton Charitable Association and grateful to everyone who took part in the Lockton Steps Up challenge. Together, we are helping to build hope and create a future where dementia no longer devastates lives."
Sarah Jeffs, Chair of Trustees at Lockton Charitable Association, added: “Lockton established The Lockton Charitable Association ten years ago to raise funds for charitable causes to improve the lives of people across the UK. Through this registered charity, Lockton has now raised a phenomenal nearly £3 million in total, supporting other national charities including Help for Heroes, Macmillan, and Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity.”
Lockton employees in the UK selected Alzheimer’s Society as their chosen charity of the year for 2026-27, marking the fifth time that this charity has been chosen. Lockton is committed to continuing to build on the more than £1 million it has raised for Alzheimer’s Society so far. Colleagues based in other countries select their own local or national charities to support.
