Lockton raises £25k for young people through 1,400km endurance cycling challenge

Lockton, the world’s largest independent insurance broker, has raised over £25,000 for grant-making charity Club Peloton through a 1,415km/17,500m ascent relay cycle challenge from London to Cannes in just six days. Lockton is supporting the Knight Frank Cycle to MIPIM event for the fifth year in a row alongside 63 other riders making their way to the international real estate fair MIPIM (opens a new window).

Six riders from Lockton arrived in Cannes on 11 March, having set off on 6 March after months of training in all weathers. The riders are Neo Combarro, Stephen Davey, Matt Sherratt, Lizzy Hamshere, Harry Blakelock, and Sam Leader. All funds raised go to Club Peloton (opens a new window), which is transforming the lives of young people by supporting the following charities. In 2025, Cycle to MIPIM aims to raise £200,000 in order to:

  • Fund 20 Adoption Activity Days for children to meet with approved adopters via Coram

  • Provide 20 specially-adapted trikes for children living with cancer via Cyclists Fighting Cancer

  • Help more than 800 disadvantaged young people see the potential value of their own lives via four youth charities funded by the Tom ap Rhys Pryce Memorial Trust.

Stephen Davey, Partner at Lockton, said, “This was the third time I have taken part in Cycle to MIPIM and it was by far the toughest. There were crashes, early starts and late finishes, and very bad weather! However, the collaboration and compassion of the riders on the road combined with the epic Club Peloton (opens a new window) support crew saw us triumph! I am so proud of the Lockton team – helping everyone on the road whatever their circumstances. Our challenges were temporary and they pale with the challenges some young people face. Through your kind donations, their lives are changing.”

Meg Aitchison, Cycle to MIPIM’s Event Director and Head of Events at Club Peloton, said, “This year’s event was a tough one, with six and four day routes that challenged the riders throughout. With early morning starts, late finishes and long days in the saddle in between, 2025 will be a year to remember. We’re very grateful to all the riders and sponsors, including Lockton, for their support both in and out of the saddle to help us meet our fundraising target and for working so seamlessly on the road to Cannes to make this year’s event so successful.”
