Lockton is proud to support EIG and Fidra Energy in delivering the UK’s largest battery storage project.

We are thrilled to announce our support of EIG and Fidra Energy as insurance advisor and broker to the Thorpe Marsh BESS project. A landmark development that will become the UK’s largest battery storage facility once built. Located in Yorkshire, this 1.4GW/3.1GWh project is set to export over 2 million MWh annually when it’s needed most, enough to power 785,000 homes during peak demand.

Michael Bogdan, Partner at Lockton Companies LLP, said: “This marks a milestone in many years of Lockton support to the Fidra team in their delivery of the project. Early stage advisory progressed into strong uptake from the Lloyd’s and London insurance market to underwrite the construction and future operational phases of Thorpe Marsh, a project that will help the UK balance consumer demand with supply from the UK’s North Sea wind farms. A crucial step in achieving the country’s net zero ambitions.”
