Throughout his career Jack has assisted with the production and placement of a variety of risks in differing territories, however his specialty lies in Central and South America. Jack understands the complexities involved in certain regions and has successfully helped clients with their coverage needs.

Kevin Brown
Senior Vice President – Marine Cargo & Commodities

Kevin is a Senior Vice President in our Marine Cargo & Commodities team and has over 30 years of Cargo, Stock Through-put and Excess Stock experience.
His responsibilities include developing new business opportunities and servicing a range of existing clients together with developing coverage solutions to meet the requirements of each client.
Kevin began his insurance career in 1989 and since this time has specialised in the Commodities, High-Tech, Pharmaceutical and Food and Beverage industry sectors.
Kevin moved to Lockton in June 2022 having previously worked at Marsh McLennan for over 12 years where he produced and serviced a substantial portfolio of global commodity trading/financing clients in both the retail and wholesale environments. This commodity portfolio was further complimented by a significant collection of business in other industry sectors where Kevin designed and delivered innovative Cargo and Stock Through-put solutions for many Fortune 500 companies.
Heather Butcher
Senior Vice President – Cargo & Logistics

Heather analyses the individual needs of each client and oversees the design, structure and placement of insurance programs. She has a strong understanding of drafting bespoke policy wordings to provide the specific coverage required, as well as handling day-to-day enquires associated with Global Placements, such as administration and provision of local policies and taxes, as may be required.
Heather has developed a diverse range of clients from all over the world covering a wide spectrum of industries, including oil and gas, food and beverage, perishables, hard and soft commodities, equipment contractors and hi-tech.
Her responsibility includes all aspects of client placement from initial contact to ongoing servicing and ensuring service standards are maintained
James Crawford

James joined Lockton in 2019 as Head of Transportation Claims. He is responsible for assisting clients on their most important losses, ensuring a first-class claims service across our various lines of business. His career spans over 20 years both broker and insurer side across various classes of business, giving him a well-rounded perspective.
He began his career at Steamship P&I Club in 2000, and later moved to Lloyd’s Syndicate Wellington specialising in Marine claims including Hull & Machinery and Liability, but always taking a predominant interest in Cargo.
In 2007, he moved to XL and was responsible for lead claims handling of large marine accounts, whilst broadening further into Ports & Terminals and Energy classes of businesses. In 2015 James became Marine Claims Manager at Neon Syndicate, a role which was later extended to include management of the syndicate’s Property & Political Risk portfolios, and which included various losses IRO high value credit risks & commodity traders.
Maxim De Prins
Senior Vice President - Head of Pharma and Food & Beverage

Max is a cargo and Stock Throughput placement specialist, focussing on advising, structuring and placing complex risks in the London marketplace for our global clients, across a large variety of industries. During the last 13 years working in the Cargo market, Max has developed specific expertise within the Perishable side of Stock Throughput risks, and currently leads our Pharmaceutical, Food and Beverage industry portfolio within the London cargo team.
Prior to joining Lockton in October 2022, Max worked in various Marine Cargo broking roles at Marsh both in Europe and London where he managed a team of brokers alongside representing the Marine division within their post-Brexit European branch. He holds a degree in Insurance & Finance from KDG Hogeschool in Antwerp, Belgium. In recent years, Max has obtained several industry Awards, most notably, Top Overall Broker of the Year in 2021 and 2022, as awarded by Gracechurch Consulting, and most recently recognised as the leading Marine broker in 2024.
Mar Espejo

Mar is a legal professional with a strong specialisation in Maritime Law, combining advanced academic training with practical experience in international maritime governance and legal practice.
During her LLM in Maritime Law, she focused extensively on marine insurance, carriage of goods by sea and international trade law. Her experience as an intern in the United Nations International Maritime Organization (IMO) also enhanced her understanding of the legal and regulatory challenges within the maritime industry.
Mar joined Lockton in January 2025 to be a Marine Cargo Claims Associate after spending 2 years working in a Lloyd’s broker firm. During this time, she handled a broad range of claims from different lines of business, she has also experience in placing risks.
Mark Hadlow
Senior Claims Executive

Mark joined Lockton in January 2023 to be the primary claims contact for Lockton’s cargo / commodity class of business. Mark moved to Lockton from a well-established Lloyd’s syndicate where he handled a broad range of Marine claims.
Prior to this, Mark was based in Singapore and was responsible for Cargo claims across Asia for AXA XL. The Cargo book comprised mainly of trade and commodity accounts with a focus on soft commodities.
Whilst in this role, Mark managed a portfolio of large and complex losses globally for a range of clients across Asia, Africa and Europe utilising key contacts in order to drive claims to resolution.
Before locating to Singapore, Mark worked for Sompo International and Chubb in London handling Marine claims with a focus on lead Cargo claims. Mark has over twelve years’ experience specialising in Cargo and is ACII qualified.
Matt Haywood

Matt is a Freight Liability and Logistics specialist who began his career in 1991, spending 16 years as a claims broker before transitioning to a placement role.
His background in claims provides Matt with invaluable insight into how a policy responds when a claim occurs and how it interacts with claims brought under client contracts.
Since transitioning to placement, Matt has worked—and continues to work—with prominent clients in the USA, UK, and EU across all sectors of the logistics industry. These include 3PL and 4PL providers, freight forwarders, warehouse operators (including those handling bonded and exchange-traded goods), motor truck cargo operators, freight brokers, container owners/lessors, and rail freight operators.
Ranjodh Jaswal

Ranj is an integral part of the cargo team and his focus is largely on the technical side of the business supporting market placement.
Trevor Jones

Trevor began his insurance career in 2009 within the London cargo market and joined the Lockton Cargo & Logistics team in 2017 following time spent at other leading Lloyd’s brokers.
Trevor leads Lockton’s Project Cargo and Delay in Start-Up industry vertical as well as specialising in multinational programs and UK domiciled business across all industry segments.
Within the project cargo sector, Trevor’s client base includes project owners and principals, contractors, financiers, manufacturers and suppliers, and freight forwarders and logistics companies involved in all manner of construction projects across the globe and he collaborates closely with the Lockton Global Energy and Power and Global Real Estate and Construction teams in offering cross class (re)insurance solutions.
Within the UK and multinational discipline, Trevor has a wide and diverse client base, including numerous corporate clients and household brands, and again collaborates closely with the Lockton Property and Casualty division and UK regional offices.
Trevor is responsible for all aspects of account handling and client management, offering risk analysis and evaluation, technical expertise, and overseeing negotiations with insurers, specialising in the structuring of complex risks and tailoring of bespoke coverages.
