Lockton Rides for Cancer Research

A team of Lockton Australia Associates recently participated in the MACA Cancer200 Ride for the Perkins, Australia's largest charity bike ride and the fourth largest charity fundraiser in the nation. This marked Lockton’s ninth consecutive year of taking part in the 200km, two-day ride, which raises funds for the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research and its pioneering efforts in cancer research and treatment.

We are excited to share that the Lockton team exceeded its fundraising goal this year, raising an impressive $91,084. Overall, the event raised a record-breaking $10,283,199, with Lockton securing the 18th spot as the highest corporate fundraiser.

Team Captain Nikki Oliver expressed heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering support from the team's sponsors and donors, with special recognition given to the team’s Diamond Sponsors, Wotton Kearney. “We are deeply grateful to Wotton Kearney for their incredible generosity and support of Team Lockton. Their commitment is vital in helping us move closer to a future without cancer, and we couldn’t achieve this without their partnership.”

Wotton Kearney, led by its WA Managing Partner Will Robinson, celebrated its seventh year as a supporter of the MACA Cancer200 Ride for the Perkins. Robinson emphasised the importance of collective action for meaningful change. “At Wotton Kearney, we know real change happens when people rally together for causes that matter. Supporting Team Lockton in the 2024 MACA Cancer200 Ride for the Perkins was about making a real difference – when the opportunity arose with Lockton to reaffirm our commitment as a lead sponsor, we jumped at the opportunity to deepen our partnership with Lockton and the incredible work being done by the Perkins in Western Australia for those families struck down by cancer.

Mr. Robinson further highlighted the significance of the event: “The life-changing ride wasn’t just a challenge; it brought us all together for an incredible purpose: helping WA researchers fight the world’s toughest cancers so everyone can have longer, healthier, and better lives. Plus, it was a perfect way to team up with others in the insurance industry to make an impact.”

He concluded, “As a team of big thinkers, trail blazers, and impactful humans, our people at Wotton Kearney are driven by more than just insurance law and risk. We want to leave a positive mark on our clients, our people, and our communities by partnering with those that align with our values, such as Lockton. Getting involved in this ride was just one way we’re working to redefine what it means to be truly greater, together. We are beyond grateful for our friendship with Lockton and are already looking forward to next year on the bike!”

The ride was not only a personal challenge for the participants but also a testament to the power of teamwork, dedication, and community support in the fight against cancer.
