Lockton appoints Lyle Steffensen to lead Health & Community Services in the East Coast

Lockton, the world’s largest privately owned insurance brokerage, is pleased to announce the appointment of Lyle Steffensen. Lyle will join Lockton on 6 February 2023 and will be based in Sydney.

In this newly created role, Ms. Steffensen will be responsible for leading the Lockton-Zenith Health & Community Services team across the East Coast of Australia, reporting into Ian Maybury, the national head of the expanding specialty business.

Ms. Steffensen brings over 25 years’ of experience in the insurance industry, working across the Australia, New Zealand and Asia markets. Prior to this, Lyle was a practicing Chartered Accountant. Over more than two decades, Ms. Steffensen has held a number of roles including a Global Insurance Manager for a multinational healthcare company, a Risk Consultant for the Federal Government’s insurance finance vehicle and a broker to private, listed and not-for-profit organisations. Ms. Steffensen most recently held the role of
Care Solutions Practice Leader at Marsh where she created and developed the practice.

Ms. Steffensen is highly regarded for her advocacy leadership and advisory in risk management and strategy solutions for Health & Community Services including aged care, primary healthcare, retirement living, disability and faith-based community services organisations.

Ms. Steffensen’s strong passion for social justice also meant dedicating years of advocating for inclusivity in the corporate workplace and she continues to advocate to make corporate Australia more accessible for those who are diversified by culture, gender, race, religion or ability. She is currently a member of Women on Boards and Women of Colour Australia (WoCA). Ms Steffensen volunteers for not-for-profit organisations such as StandTall Australia, Wayside Chapel and Leichhardt Uniting Church.

A graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, some of Ms. Steffensen’s achievements consist of being an Elite Women in Insurance Award Recipient, a Top Global 100 Brokers Award Recipient, and a winner of the Insurance Business Hot List for two years in a row (2020-2021).
