Lockton appoints Patrick Hunter as Pacific Head of Risk Consulting

Lockton, the world's largest privately owned insurance brokerage, has appointed Patrick Hunter as Pacific Head of Risk Consulting.

Based in New Zealand, Hunter will lead Lockton's Risk Consulting practice across Australia and New Zealand, reinforcing the firm's commitment to expanding its specialist advisory capabilities in the Pacific region.

Hunter’s appointment marks a significant step in Lockton’s strategy to provide clients with deeper technical expertise and integrated consulting solutions to help organisations better understand, quantify and manage risk.

With extensive experience in valuations, risk engineering, catastrophe modelling, insurance analytics and business interruption pre and post loss analysis, Hunter has advised organisations across the Pacific and internationally. His data-driven insights have assisted clients in strengthening resilience, optimising insurance programs, and making informed commercial decisions.

"Businesses today face increasingly complex and interconnected risks,” Hunter said. “Our role is to help clients understand those risks, make better-informed decisions, and ultimately create greater value for their organisations."

He added, "By bringing together specialist expertise across valuations, risk engineering, catastrophe modelling, analytics and business interruption, we have an opportunity to build a truly integrated Risk Consulting practice that delivers practical commercial outcomes for clients across the Pacific."

Marcus Pearson, CEO of Lockton Pacific, emphasised the firm’s investment in specialist advisory services.

"Patrick brings a unique combination of technical expertise, commercial insight and large catastrophe loss experience,” Pearson said. “His vision for Risk Consulting aligns strongly with our strategy of making a meaningful difference to our clients’ businesses, in this case through the deployment of specialist risk consulting capabilities.

Hunter will work closely with Lockton's advisory and broking teams to further develop the firm's integrated Risk Consulting proposition across the Pacific. The practice will continue to expand its capabilities in areas including insurance valuations, risk engineering, catastrophe modelling, business interruption and insurance analytics, helping clients address complex risks through practical, commercially-focused advice.
