Uncover the Power of Agile in Revolutionising HR Practices

In our recent breakfast session, we gathered a vibrant community of HR leaders to engage in open discussions about the daily challenges and opportunities faced by the HR field. Centered around the theme of "The Agile HR Imperative," and led by Christoffer Erichsen from Human Inc, we explored how Agile methodologies can revolutionize HR practices and empower organizations to operate swiftly yet effectively.

The Agile HR Imperative

One of the key takeaways from Chris's presentation was the pressing need for companies to adapt quickly while maintaining scalability. One of the participants posed a thought-provoking question: How can companies move fast but at scale? As we move toward a future increasingly dominated by technology, we must consider what processes we currently handle that machines might take over. This reflection invites HR professionals to reimagine the value of HR and to stay relevant in an ever-evolving landscape.

Key HR Pain Points

One of the polls inspired participants to think about pressing pain points emerged that are impacting HR teams today:

  • Creating Anti-Fragile Employees: In a world of constant change, organizations need to cultivate resilience and adaptability among their workforce.

  • Navigating Hybrid Work Challenges: As many businesses continue to embrace hybrid work models, finding the right balance remains a significant challenge.

  • Delivering Consumer-Grade Employee Experiences: We explored the necessity of providing seamless and engaging experiences for employees, raising the question: Can we bring everything together?

  • Transitioning to Skills-Based Organizations: Transparency in HR processes and alignment with the expectations of different generations is crucial. Understanding the skills, experiences, and mindsets that drive success today—and in the future—is essential for HR's evolution.

  • Building a Growth Mindset: Encouraging resilience and a growth mindset within teams is vital for navigating the complexities of modern work environments.

  • Aligning with Diverse Generational Expectations: It is essential to understand and meet the varying expectations of different generations and cultures in the workplace.

  • Empowering Business Ownership of People Management: Business leaders must take ownership of their people strategies, integrating them into overall business operations.

Evaluating Our Agility

To assess our community's agility, we conducted a poll asking participants to evaluate how agile their organizations truly are. The results provided valuable insights into the current landscape and areas for improvement.

  • 74% of participants believe they continuously improve outcomes.

  • 72% feels they maximise work not done and streamline effort.

  • 62% focus on mindset over tools.

We also posed the question: Which 'How Might We' question should we ideate around? The overwhelming choice was: How might we successfully enable teams with hybrid work arrangements?

Looking Ahead

As we reflect on the insights shared during our event, it is clear that the journey towards building a more agile HR function requires collaboration, transparency, and a willingness to evolve. The transformations we discussed are becoming integral to daily operations rather than being treated as separate projects.

We invite HR professionals from all industries to join us in continuing these conversations and exploring how we can collectively tackle the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Together, we can build a resilient HR community that is prepared for the future.
