Lockton, the world’s largest independent insurance broker, has announced a strategic collaboration with TriPoint Environmental to advance large-scale eco-restoration and nature-based solutions internationally. The collaboration brings together Lockton’s specialist insurance, risk advisory, and carbon market expertise with TriPoint Environmental’s science-led ecosystem restoration programmes.
The goal is to establish frameworks to strengthen project bankability and mitigate operational and financial risks.
TriPoint Environmental’s eco-restoration approach integrates nature-based solutions within comprehensive landscape-scale programmes encompassing reforestation, regenerative agriculture, soil regeneration, biodiversity conservation, sustainable land management, and community development. These programmes are designed to restore degraded ecosystems, improve environmental resilience, and generate measurable ecological, social, and economic benefits.
A key outcome is high-quality, independently verified carbon credits. Carbon credit development is not their primary objective but could provide sustainable financing for long-term restoration and community development.
Bringing insurance and risk advisory expertise into the earliest stages of project development can help address the concerns of governments, institutional investors, carbon credit purchasers and other stakeholders.
Alejandro Guerrero, President & CEO, Lockton Argentina & Uruguay, said: “To advise on climate risks, you require a team of specialists that not only understand (Re)Insurance, but also understand the eco-restoration business, the carbon credit markets and the expectations of the financial entities that will support the projects. At Lockton, we’re partnering with TriPoint Environmental to develop one of the most significant large scale, multi-country and vertically integrated projects that can change the future of climate action and related finance.”
David Briscoe, Lockton Carbon Credit & BNG Practice Lead, said: “Large-scale ecosystem restoration presents significant opportunities, but also requires careful consideration of complex risks. We will work with TriPoint Environmental to explore how innovative risk transfer solutions can support the development and financing of nature-based projects internationally.”
Terence Chibula, TriPoint Environmental, General Counsel, said: “Restoring ecosystems at scale requires more than scientific expertise. It requires the confidence of governments, investors, and communities. Our collaboration with Lockton is an important step toward integrating effective risk transfer and management into the financial and operational foundations of our global eco-restoration programmes.”
